High Court summons Nur

  • Asked to appear in court on January 17
  • Report about Nur’s speech on Dec 7

The High Court has issued a contempt of court order against Nurul Haque Nur, former Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) VP and leader of Bangladesh Gono Odhikar Parishad, for making objectionable statements about the judges.

He has been asked to appear in court on January 17 for an explanation in this regard.

A High Court bench comprising Justice JBM Hasan and Justice Raziq-al-Jalil passed the order on Sunday.

Assistant Attorney General Kalipada Mrida represented the state in the court. He brought the report to the notice of the court.

Earlier, a report was published in a daily on December 7 about Nurul Haque Nur's speech. According to reports, Nur made objectionable remarks against the judges of the court in a rally at Bijoy Nagar water tank intersection.
