The verdict in a corruption case against BNP Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas involving illegal assets acquisition and concealment has been postponed to December 12.
The judgement was scheduled to be announced in the court of Judge Manjurul Imam of Dhaka Special Judge Court-6 on Thursday but was deferred as it was not ready to be delivered.
Earlier, the judge fixed the date of pronouncement of the judgement after hearing the arguments of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and the accused’s legal counsel on November 22.
According to the case documents, Mirza Abbas concealed information about Tk7.54 crore and illegally accumulated wealth amounting to over Tk57.26 lakh.
ACC Deputy Director Md Shafiul Alam filed the case at Ramna police station on August 16, 2007.
On May 24, 2008, ACC Deputy Director Md Khairul Huda submitted the charge sheet in the case after investigation.
The trial began with the framing of charges on June 16, 2008.
During the trial of the case, 24 people testified against Mirza Abbas.
