The new date of hearing is set on August 20

Update : 16 Jul 2023, 12:59 PM

A Dhaka court on Sunday postponed the hearing of charges against BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in 11 cases, including a case filed on charges of sedition, on August 20.

Khaleda Zia was scheduled to appear in these cases on Sunday, but she could not attend the court due to illness.

In view of this, when her lawyer applied for time, Judge Md Asaduzzaman of Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court set the new date.

Additional Public Prosecutor Tapas Kumar Pal, counsel for the state in the concerned court, confirmed the matter.

Of the 11 cases, eight were filed with Darus Salam police station and two others were filed with Jatrabari police station for her role in BNP's vandalism during its hartal in 2015.

These 10 cases were filed by police, while a sedition case was filed against the BNP chief by a person.

Later in 2016, police submitted a charge sheet against Khaleda and others accused.

Along with Begum Zia, the notable accused in these cases are BNP leaders Amanullah Aman, Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohail and Sultan Salauddin Tuku.
