A Dhaka court on Monday set January 10, 2022, for passing an order on accepting charge sheet in a graft case against expelled Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat.
Monday was fixed for passing the order, but Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge KM Imrul Qayesh reset the date as police failed to produce the accused because of his illness.
Samrat is now under treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) under the supervision of prison authorities.
The court on September 22 issued a production warrant and ordered the prison authorities to produce Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat before it on Monday in the case.
ACC Deputy Director Jahangir Alam filed a case against Samrat on November 12 last year for allegedly amassing illegal assets worth over Tk2.94 crore.
On October 6, 2019, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the former president of Dhaka South Jubo League, and his close aide Arman, former vice-president of the same unit. Samrat was expelled from the Jubo League following the incident.
