Sinha murder trial: Seventh phase of witness deposition begins

A Cox’s Bazar court on Monday began recording testimonies of prosecution witnesses in the seventh phase of the sensational trial in retired Bangladesh Army Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan murder.

Cox’s Bazar District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Ismail began the day’s proceedings at 10:30am with the testimony of the 60th witness, Sub-Inspector Kamal Hossain.

Five more witnesses testified in the court. One of them, Sergeant Aiyub Ali, was recalled, said Public Prosecutor Advocate Faridul Alam.   

With the latest developments, 64 witnesses have given deposition in the case.

All the 15 accused including infamous OC (suspended) Pradeep Kumar Das were brought to the court.

On July 31 last year, Sinha was shot dead at the Shamlapur police check-post in Baharchhara Union of Cox's Bazar while returning to the town after filming for a documentary.

On August 5, Sinha's sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous filed a case with Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Court accusing nine members of the law enforcement agencies of being involved in the killing, including Pradeep and Baharchhara police outpost inspector Liakat Ali.
