The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court has suspended the bail granted to Sohel Rana, owner of the collapsed Rana Plaza building, until July 10 in connection with the murder case filed over the incident.
The Appellate Division, led by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique , passed the order on Monday.
Advocate Kamrul Islam attended the hearing on behalf of the accused.
Previously, the High Court had granted bail to Sohel Rana on April 6.
As a result, there was no obstacle to his release on bail, as lawyers had indicated.
Later, the state filed an application seeking suspension of the bail granted to Sohel Rana by the High Court.
In response to the state's petition against the High Court order, the Chamber Court of the Appellate Division, led by Justice Abu Zafor Siddique, suspended Sohel Rana's bail on April 9.
On April 24, 2013, over 1,100 RMG workers were killed when the 10-storey Rana Plaza building adjacent to the Savar bus stand collapsed. Thousands of other workers were injured.
Five days after this incident, RAB arrested building owner Sohel Rana, as he attempted to flee to India.
Later, a case was filed against him along with the owners of various factories in that building.
