Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Gulam Nabi granted the fresh remand on Saturday in reply to a seven-day remand plea submitted by police.
During the court proceedings, the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit Inspector and also the Investigation Officer (IO) of the Gulshan attack case Humayun Kabir showed cause that more questioning was needed for the sake of the investigation.
Earlier in the day, the CTTC unit that deals the case produced Tahmid before the court after ending the eight-day remand granted on August 4.
He was arrested along with another Holey Artisan Bakery survivor Hasnat Reza Karim under Section 54 for alleged involvement in the attack.
The CTTC unit have shown Hasnat arrested for the deadliest terror attack today and policemen sought a court order to interrogate the UK citizen for 10 days. At a media conference, police chief Shahidul Hoque said former NSU teacher Hasnat was still a person of interest in the case.
However, Tahmid, a permanent resident of Canada, has not yet been shown arrested on the charge.
Terrorist killed 22 people, including foreigners and policemen, when they attacked an upmarket restaurant at the heart of Dhaka’s diplomatic zone on July 1. The 11-hour standoff ended after commandos stormed into the cafe and killed the hostage-takers.
