A petition has been filed against the High Court (HC) order that stayed a lower court order barring GM Quader to perform his activities as chairman of the Jatiya Party as per party's constitution.

Expelled Jatiya Party leader and former MP Ziaul Haque Mridha filed the appeal with chamber judge court on Thursday.

His lawyer Helal Uddin confirmed the matter on Thursday.

A hearing is likely to be held on February 12.

Earlier on Sunday, the High court stayed the lower court order imposing a temporary ban on party activities of GM Quader.

A High Court division bench of Justice Muhammad Abdul Hafiz passed the order after holding a hearing on a revision plea filed in this regard.

The High Court stayed the lower court order for eight weeks and also issued a rule, asking the authorities concerned as to why it shall not scrap that said order.

Jatiya Party's suspended leader and former lawmaker Ziaul Haque Mridha filed a case against Quader on October 4 and the court on October 31 issued the initial order, asking Quader to refrain from party activities.

On November 16, A Dhaka court upheld an order that had asked GM Quader to refrain from party activities.

The court of Dhaka First Joint District Judge Masudul Haque passed the order, scrapping a plea of Quader, challenging the earlier order.

The court also set November 30 for submitting a reply in writing and holding further hearing on the matter.

On January 19, a Dhaka court upheld the appellate division's order that had asked GM Quader to refrain from party activities.

The order was passed after hearing an appeal filed by former JaPa lawmaker Ziaul Haque Mridha.
