Honouring the martyrs of the Language Movement, the High Court on Wednesday announced its verdict in Bangla on the first day of February.
The High Court bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Md Khairul Alam announced the verdict in a writ petition.
Advocate Md Shariful Islam was present in court on behalf of the petitioner, while Deputy Attorney General Amit Dasgupta appeared for the state.
Before delivering the verdict, Justice Naima Haider said: “Today is the first day of the month of the Language Movement. Honouring the souls of the Language Movement martyrs and International Mother Language Day, today's first verdict is being given in Bangla. With respect to all Bangla speakers in the world, I am delivering this verdict.”
