The Appellate Division has upheld a High Court order to grant bail to Regent Hospital Chairman Mohammad Shahed in the case of embezzling nearly Tk3 crore from Padma Bank (formerly Farmers Bank).
The Appellate Division led by Justice Md Nuruzzaman gave the order on Monday rejecting the ACC's application against the bail granted by the High Court.
The High Court on July 28, 2022 granted permanent bail to Regent Hospital Chair Mohammad Shahed in a corruption case filed on charge of nearly Tk2.75 crore embezzlement from Padma Bank (formerly Farmers Bank).
In 2020, ACC Deputy Director Md Shahjahan Miraj filed a case against four people, including Shahed.
Earlier on July 6, 2020, RAB raided Uttara and Mirpur branches of Regent Hospital. In the operation, various irregularities including fake test reports of Covid-19, collecting money from patients in the name of Covid treatment were found.
On the night of July 7, a case was filed against 17 people at Uttara West police station.
