The High Court on Tuesday ordered the authorities concerned to conduct raids against fake doctors across Bangladesh.

The bench of Justice KM Kamrul Kader and Justice Mohammad Ali passed the order, asking the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC) president and the inspector general of police to execute the order and submit a report in this regard within three months.

The court passed the order after holding a hearing on a writ filed in this regard.

"The court also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned to explain as to why it (court) shall not declare illegal their inaction in enhancing punishment for fake doctors by amending two sections of the BMDC Act, 2010," said Advocate JR Khan Robin, who filed and moved the plea before the court.

The court asked law and health secretaries, BMDC president, director general of the Directorate General of Health Services, IGP and BMDC registrar to reply to the rule within four weeks.

Deputy Attorney General Abdullah Al Mahmud Bashar took part in the hearing for the state.
