A Rajshahi court on Monday sent a man to jail for raping his student for three years while blackmailing her that he would spread videos of the previous sexual assaults online.
The teacher, Md Masud Sarkar, 50, is a teacher of the Dress Making and Tailoring Department of Batupara Technical and Commercial Institute of Mohanpur upazila of Rajshahi.
Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 Judge Muhammad Hasanuzzaman rejected the bail plea of Masud Sarkar on Monday and sent him to jail.
According to the case statement, Sarkar asked the rape survivor to get admitted to the institute in 2019.
On May 10, 2019, he first violated her after asking her to go to his house to collect notes. He took videos of the assault on his phone that day.
The rape survivor was subjected to physical and mental torture by Sarkar for three years.
