8 Chhatra Odhikar Parishad members granted bail in 2 cases

They are accused of assaulting some students of Dhaka University and attempting to murder them on October 7

A Dhaka court on Monday granted bail to eight leaders and activists of the Dhaka University unit Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, including its President Akhter Hossain, in two cases filed against them by two BCL leaders and activists over assault and attempt to murder.

Judge Syeda Hafsa Jhuma of Additional Metropolitan Sessions Court-8 passed the order after their lawyer's filed a petition before the court seeking bail for their client.

The others accused are General Secretary Akram Hossain, Md Saddam Hossain, Abdul Qader, Md Torikul Islam, Asif Mahmud, Zahid Hossain, and Md Sanaullah Miah.

Hearing on bail petitions of 16 other leaders and activists of the Dhaka University unit Chhatra Odhikar Parishad is scheduled to be held on November 14 and November 20 in the same cases.

They are accused of assaulting some students of Dhaka University and attempting to murder them on October 7.

Chhatra League Organizing Secretary Nazim Uddin and its activist Aminur Rahman filed the two cases at Shahbagh police station accusing 25 named and 140-150 unnamed people on October 8.
