A writ has been filed in the High Court into the deaths of five people who were killed on Monday when their car was crushed as a BRT project girder fell on it.
Advocate Sagufta Tabassum Ahmed filed the writ in the relevant branch of the High Court on Tuesday, reports Bangla Tribune.
Tabassum Ahmed said: "The hearing of the writ application may be held in the High Court bench consisting of Justice Md Mojibur Rahman Mia and Justice Kazi Md Izarul Haque Akand.”
In the writ, investigation of the incident, necessary action against those responsible and necessary security of the public have been sought.
Secretary of Home Ministry, secretary of Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges, and secretary of Ministry of Local Government have been made defendants in the writ.
Earlier on Tuesday morning, a report published in a national daily on the same incident was brought to the attention of the High Court.
Later, the High Court bench advised lawyers to come in the form of writs.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed the authorities concerned to take action against those responsible for the Uttara BRT girder accident following an investigation.

On Monday, five people, including children, of the same family were killed when a girder fell on their car from a crane during Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project work in Uttara of the capital.
The victim's family members said that the car was going from Dakshin Khan to Ashulia after the wedding reception of a newly-wed couple, Hridoy and Riya. They got married on Saturday.
