The High Court on Wednesday summoned two people to learn about some allegations raised over recording statements of two children of former Superintendent of Chittagong Police Babul Akhter in a case lodged over the murder of their mother Mahmuda Khanam Mitu.

A High Court division bench of Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Shahed Nuruddin passed the order, asking Babul's brother Habibur Rahman Labu and the Magura DSS officer to appear before it on August 7.

On June 8, the High Court ordered the concerned investigation officer (IO) to record statements of the two children of Babul and Mitu at the office of Magura DSS officer, in line with the relevant rules of the Children Act.

"Both the parties, Magura DSS office and Babul's family, raised allegations against each other for trying to influence the process recently. That is why the court summoned them to learn about it," advocate Mohammad Shishir Manir told BSS.

Earlier on March 16, Chittagong Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court had ordered the IO to record statements of the two children with much caution. Babul's father and brother filed the revision plea against the order

The IO on July 4 recorded the statements of the two children.

Mahmuda Khanam Mitu was brutally murdered in the GEC Intersection area in the port city on June 5, 2016.
