The High Court (HC) on Sunday wanted to know what administrative action was taken against Teknaf Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Kaisar Khosru for using abusive language against a newsman over phone.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat asked Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin Manik to talk to Cox's Bazar deputy commissioner in this regard and inform the court.

The court came up with the order as senior advocate Md Khurshid Alam Khan brought the matter to court's attention.

"The language he (Khosru) used was extremely objectionable and sad. His language was worse than of a thug. Only a wrong-headed person can utter such abusive language," advocate Khan said, quoting the court.

Online news portal Dhakapost.com on July 21 published a report on alleged anomaly in constructing houses for the homeless in Cox's Bazar.

Later, the UNO called the reporter over phone from his official number at night and used awfully abusive language for the report.
