The High Court has asked the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to come up with a written  explanation on the grounds of terminating its deputy assistant director Sharif Uddin.

A High Court bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman passed the order on Monday after holding a hearing on a writ petition.

The explanation has to be submitted by March 8. ACC lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan has been directed to comply with the order.

Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin said that the court had asked the petitioners’ lawyer Advocate Md Shishir Manir to submit copies of media reports and documents in favour of Sharif Uddin as well.

Termination of the ACC official sparked protests among the ACC officials as they said that Sharif had been victimized as he worked against the interest of vested quarters.

On Wednesday, ten lawyers of the Supreme Court filed the writ seeking a High Court order on an independent inquiry into the termination.

The ACC chairman, secretary, commissioner (inquiry), commissioner (investigation), director (administration and human resources) and sacked official Sharif Uddin were made respondents in the writ.

"We have not filed the writ on behalf of anyone. We just want an independent inquiry into the allegations, counter-allegations from both sides that came after the termination of Sharif Uddin. We want the real truth to come out," Advocate Mohammad Shishir Manir told the media.
