Four sentenced to death for murdering Keraniganj youth

The men strangled the victim to death at a local factory on April 3, 2015

A Dhaka court has sentenced four people to death for murdering a youth named Wasim in Keraniganj in 2015.

Delivering the judgment, Additional District and Sessions Judge Faizunnesa on Thursday also fined them Tk10,000 each. Failure to pay the fine will result into two months of imprisonment.

The four convicts are Abdul Baten, Jahangir Alam, Palak Rahman alias ‘Danger Sagar’, and Md Pappu.

Of them, arestees Baten and Palak were present in the courtroom. The other two went into hiding after securing bail in the case.

According to case details, the four men had strangled Wasim to death at a local factory in Keraniganj on April 3, 2015, after Baten and Pappu took him there.

Police filed the murder case at Keranigonj model police station later.

Police formally pressed charges against the four in 2016 and a court indicted them on January 24 last year.
