Henolux group MD, director placed on two-day remand

The IO of the case demanded 7-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed Henolux group Managing Director (MD) Nurul Amin and his wife Director Fatema Amin on a two-day remand for abetting suicide of a Kushtia businessman.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Nur passed the order on Wednesday.

Golam Hossain Khan, sub-inspector of Shabagh Police Station, also investigation officer (IO) of the case, produced them before the court demanding a seven-day remand to investigate the incident.

Azad Rahman, assistant public prosecutor, also urged the court during the hearing to put them on a seven-day remand for interrogation at police custody.

However, defence counsels submitted a petition for remand rejection as well as bail for the accused.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Tuesday arrested Nurul Amin and Fatema Amin from the capital's Uttara area.

Gazi Anis's brother Nazrul Islam lodged a case against Nurul and his wife with Shahbagh Police Station.

Anis, a former president of Kushtia district unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League, set himself on fire on Jatiya Press Club premises on Monday.

Passersby with the help of police rushed him to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. He succumbed to his injury in the early hours of Tuesday.
