A court on Sunday granted bail to actress Shabnam Faria in a case lodged over fraud and embezzlement associated with her involvement in e-commerce company Evaly.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim passed the order, allowing her bail till the submission of the police report in the case.
The court passed the order as Faria, also the former chief public relations officer of the e-commerce company surrendered before the court through her lawyer and pleaded for permanent bail.
The same court on February 3 had granted bail to another actress and co-accused in the case; Rafiath Rashid Mithila, the former goodwill ambassador of Evaly lifestyle.
Faria and Mithila were granted eight weeks of anticipatory bail in this case by the High Court on December 13, 2021.
A customer of Evaly named Sad Sam Rahman pleaded to record his allegations against nine including Evaly managing director Mohammad Rassel, its chairman and Rassel’s wife Shamima Nasrin, Evaly’s goodwill ambassador and singer, composer and actor Tahsan, Mithila and Faria, as a case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari on November 21.
After recording his testimony, the court had asked the Dhanmondi police station to record this as a first information report (FIR). Dhanmondi police station on December 4, 2021, filed the allegation as FIR and sent it to the court.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate accepted the case and asked police to submit their report on January 10.
