Blogger Nazimuddin murder: Court accepts charge sheet against nine​

A Dhaka court on Thursday issued arrest warrants against five, including the Ansar al-Islam military wing chief, sacked army major Syed Ziaul Haque alias Zia, for killing blogger Nazimuddin Samad. They were shown as fugitives accused in the charge sheet.

Earlier, the court accepted the charge sheet against nine accused in the case.

Judge Md Mujibur Rahman of the Anti-Terrorism Special Tribunal in Dhaka accepted the charge sheet in the presence of four of the nine accused.

The other accused in the case are-- Md Waliullah alias Oli, Sabbirul Haque Chowdhury alias Konik, Mawlana Junayed Ahmed alias Junayed and Akram Hossain. All of them are on the run.

The court directed the officer-in-charge (OC) of Sutrapur Police Station to submit a report on the execution of the arrest warrant by February 23.

On August 20, 2020, the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of police submitted the charge sheet before the chief metropolitan magistrate court, accusing nine people in the case.
