Update : 25 Aug 2021, 11:46 PM

Failing to get bail in the lower court, Dhallywood actor Pori Moni’s lawyer has submitted a bail plea to the High Court in the case filed under the Narcotics Control Act.

On Wednesday, the actor’s lawyer Mujibur Rahman sought permission to file the petition from the virtual High Court bench comprising Justice Mostafa Zaman Islam and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar.

Later, he filed the application to the appropriate section. The state has also been given a copy of the application.

Pori Moni has so far been remanded three times in the case and the lower courts have rejected the bail petitions filed on her behalf.

On August 22, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Emrul Kayesh set September 13 as the hearing date for the bail plea in this case.

In the application, the lawyer questioned the delay in setting the date for bail hearing.

On August 19, another court rejected Pori Moni’s bail plea and remanded her for another day.

On August 4, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) raided Pori Moni’s Banani home and detained her allegedly with bottles of liquor, yaba pills and LSD blotting papers.

A minibar was found at Pori Moni’s residence where she regularly arranged parties, RAB said.

RAB brought drugs-related charges against Pori Moni and her aide Dipu in the case filed with Banani police station on August 6.
