A court on Tuesday sentenced a man to death for killing his mother in the Charmartrin area of Kamalnagar upazila in Lakshmipur in 2005.
District and Sessions Judges' Court Additional Judge Md Saidur Rahman Gazi passed the order while the convicted Harun Ur Rashid stood in the dock.
According to the case statement, Harun hacked his mother Kairun Nessa to death over a family disagreement on July 17, 2005.
The convict's sister Minara Begum filed a case with Ramgati police station accusing Harun of the murder the next day.
On September 29, 2005, police submitted the charge sheet against Harun.
After examining the records of 13 witness statements, the court handed down the guilty verdict.
