According to court sources, a murder case was filed against Nur Hossain with Fatullah Model police station on April 28, 2014 in connection with the murder of seven people in Narayanganj.
Due to the case, the then Narayanganj deputy commissioner declared the licences of all firearms registered under the names of Nur Hossain and his associates to be null and void on May 5, 2014, and ordered police to confiscate the firearms and ammunition.
Police seized firearms and ammunition from Nur Hossain's associates, but an NPB pistol and a 22 bore rifle were not found. Later on August 1, 2014, police recovered Nur Hossain's NPB pistol from the Malibagh Bazar rail crossing in Dhaka. The next day, police filed a case under the Arms Act with the Railway police station.
On August 3, police filed another case under the Arms Act against Nur with Siddhirganj police station, for illegally keeping the two firearms in his possession rather than handing them over to police.
