Court orders to confiscate flats, plot of PK Halder

Halder allegedly embezzled Tk3,500 crore from different financial agencies

A Dhaka court has ordered confiscation of two Dhanmondi flats and around six acres of land of Proshanta Kumar Halder, alias PK Halder, former managing director of NRB Global Bank and Reliance Finance.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Qayesh issued the order on Tuesday, allowing a petition made by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Confirming the matter to BSS, ACC lawyer Mahmud Hossain Jahangir said the court ordered to seize two flats situated in Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area - at Road 39 and Road 6 – and the land in Rupganj area.

On January 8, the anti-graft body filed a case against Halder for amassing illegal wealth of around Tk274 crore. 

He is accused of embezzling Tk1,500 crore from the International Leasing and Financial Services Ltd. Halder also allegedly embezzled Tk3,500 crore from different financial agencies.
