A court has denied the bail petition of a lawyer, Abul Khayer Azad, and sent him to jail on charges of raping a college girl in Habiganj district.
Habiganj Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Sudipta Das passed the order on Monday afternoon, said Court Police Inspector Al Amin.
On January 7, the college girl filed the rape case against Abul Khayer, son of Abdul Kuddus from Nabiganj upazila of the district.
According to the case statement, the girl and the lawyer were in a relationship for a long time. Later, the lawyer engaged in a physical relationship with her on November 15, 2016, and March 20, 2017, by promising to marry her.
Abul Khayer did not keep his promise and the girl then filed the case against him.
