In the incident of stripping naked and violating a woman in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali district, an accused Israfil Hossain alias Mia, 22, has been remanded for four days.
Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court Additional Publication Prosecutor Altaf Hossain confirmed the matter.
Justice Mashfiqul Haque granted the four-day remand to accused Israfil after Investigation Officer of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Mamunur Rashid Patwary appealed for a seven-day remand in the Eklashpur gang rape case at the Cognizance Court No 3 of the District Judicial Magistrate.
On October 21, Israfil Hossain surrendered to the Chief Judicial Magistrate Court and appealed for bail. However, Justice Mashfiqul Haque rejected his bail and sent him to jail.
On September 2, a criminal gang forced their way into the woman’s house, tied up her husband in the next room and tried to rape her. When she defended herself, they stripped her naked, beat her up, violated her and video recorded the whole thing – which later went viral on social media.
The rapists were members of a “Delwar Bahini” whose ring leader Delwar Hossain was later identified as the main accused in the incident.
Delwar was shown arrested in the rape case later filed by the rape survivor against Delwar, and his second-in-command Abul Kalam on October 8 at Begumganj Model police station.
Delwar remanded in Hasan murder case
Delwar Hossain, also one of the main accused in the murder of Mohammad Hasan, has been placed in a three-day remand after the investigation officer SI Mostak Ahmed appealed for a five-day remand in the same court on Wednesday.
The Hasan murder case was filed on February 16 this year.
Delwar was previously produced in court on Tuesday after a seven-day remand in the gang rape case as well as an arms and ammunition case.
