The High Court has issued a court of contempt rule against Mymensingh deputy jailer Alvi Sharmin, seeking her explanation on why she said: "We are not bound to follow the court order".
The court also asked her to explain why departmental action would not be taken against her.
Justice Md Habibul Gani and Justice Md Riaz Uddin Khan issued the suo moto rule after hearing a petition in this regard on Thursday.
According to the court order, she has to appear before the court physically for her explanation on October 14.
Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Abdur Rafel, accompanied by Assistant Attorney General Ali Haider, stood for the petition.
The state lawyer said following a court order, he called Mymensingh jail to know about the whereabouts of an accused named Shahed, who was supposed to be in the jail. But in response the deputy jailer Alvi Sharmin told him that the jail authorities were not bound to obey the court order.
The DAG later informed the court of the matter, whereupon the court suggested that he file a petition relating to contempt of court.
