Suspended sub-inspector Nanda Dulal Rakkhit has given a confessional statement in the murder case of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan, to a Cox’s Bazar court.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Tamanna Farah recorded his statement under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in her chambers on Monday.
Nanda Dulal Rakkhit, one of the prime accused in the Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan murder case, was taken to district jail after his four hour long confession, RAB sources confirmed.
Nanda Dulal was brought to the Cox's Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Court for recording of the statement around 10am on Monday, a day after the commencement of a three day remand confirmed Md Khairul Islam, senior assistant superintendent of police and the in-charge investigating the Sinha murder case.
On Sunday, suspended inspector Liakat Ali, a prime accused in the murder case, also gave his statement before the same court.
On August 28, the same court granted a three day remand each for suspended officer-in-charge (OC) Pradeep Kumar Das, inspector Liakat, and ASI Nanda Dulal, for continuing interrogation under RAB custody.
They were remanded for the third time after case Investigation Officer, ASP Khairul Islam of RAB 15, sought more days to interrogate them for the murder investigation.
On the night of July 31, retired Army officer Sinha was shot dead by Liakat at the Shamlapur police check post on Marine Drive in Teknaf's Baharchhara.
Sinha was on his way back to Nilima Resort in Himchhari after filming a video on Marishbunia hill in Teknaf.
On August 5, Sinha's older sister Sharmin Shahriar filed a case with the Judicial Magistrate Court in connection with the murder where 15 people were named as accused.
