Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury has been sued for reportedly hurting the religious sentiments of the country’s Hindu communities.
Journalist Biplob Dey lodged a case with the court of Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Salem Md Noman on Wednesday in this regard.
Mithun Biswas, the plaintiff’s counsel, told Dhaka Tribune that the court has ordered the Detective Branch (DB) of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) to investigate the case.
According to the case documents, Dr Zafrullah, a key leader of the Jatiya Oikya Front, allegedly made some objectionable and derogatory remarks against the Hindu religion while speaking at a rally at the National Press Club in Dhaka on August 9.
