The High Court has given orders to take a first information report (FIR) against a sub-inspector (SI) of Special Branch (SB) and others who allegedly attacked a Supreme Court lawyer and her family members.
Justice M Enayetur Rahim gave the order during a virtual hearing of a writ on Tuesday.
The officer-in-charge (OC) of Kafrul police station was ordered to take the FIR against SB SI Mostafizur Rahman and others who allegedly attacked Supreme Court Lawyer Farhat Jahan Shirin and her family members.
Dr Dewan Abu Obayed Hossain represented Farhat while Supreme Court Bar Association President AM Aminuddin and Secretary Barrister Ruhul Kuddus Kajal also stood for Farhat during the hearing.
Dewan filed the writ with the High Court on behalf of Farhat on Monday.
Home secretary, inspector general of Police (IGP), DC of Mirpur Zone and OC of Kafrul police station were made respondents in the writ.
Aminuddin said: “I called the OC to record the FIR, but he did not.”
Farhat’s lawyer said she and her family own a land at Mirpur 13 and the SI has a flat in the building which was constructed on that land.
Mostafiz had a disagreement about the service charges and some others matters with Farhat.
On the evening of June 5, he went to Farhat’s flat with some people and attacked the lawyer and her family members that caused serious injuries to Farhat and her husband.
After the attack, Farhat went to Kafrul police station to file the FIR but it was not recorded.
