The High Court upheld the lower court verdict that  sentenced former minister Mir Mohammad Nasir Uddin to 13 years  in prison and his son Barrister Mir Helal Uddin to three years, in a corruption case.

The bench of Justice AKM Abdul Hakim and Justice Fatema Najib delivered the judgment rejecting the petitions filed by the accused challenging the lower court verdict, on Tuesday.

Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan, counsel to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), said the court asked Nasir and Helal to surrender to the lower court within three months of receiving the copy of the High Court verdict.

The ACC filed the case against former State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mir Nasir Uddin and his son Mir Helal Uddin with Gulshan police station on March 6, 2007, for amassing wealth illegally and concealing information.

On July 4, 2007, the Special Judge Court sentenced Nasir to 13 years and his son Helal to 3 years in prison.
