A writ has been field at the High Court seeking to stop female workers from going abroad for work, especially in Saudi Arabia and four other Middle Eastern countries.
Lawyer Zaman Akhter Bulbul confirmed the matter about the writ petition on Monday.
On November 12, Razia Khatun, a resident of Cox’s Bazar filed the writ as the plaintiff.
The four other countries are Jordan, Iran, Lebanon, and Syria.
Zaman said: “There is a possibility of the writ’s hearing to be heard on Tuesday by the High Court Bench of Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader.”
The writ details mentioned that although there is a law to prevent human trafficking, there is no implementation of the law; hence female workers are deprived of their human and legal rights. The writ also appealed for a rule to be issued .
Secretaries of the Law Ministry, the home minister, Expatriates’ Welfare Ministry, the inspector general of police (IGP), Chittagong Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal judge and the deputy commissioner (DC) of Chittagong were made respondents in the writ.
