Plastic toys in packets of chips: HC asks BSTI to submit report

The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mustafizur Rahman issued the order after hearing a writ in this regard on Sunday

The High Court has directed the Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) to submit a report within 14 days after investigating plastic toys (for children) found in packets of chips. 

The bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mustafizur Rahman issued the order after hearing a writ in this regard on Sunday. 

Advocate Moniruzzaman stood for the writ at the hearing. 

A rule was also issued asking why necessary directions should not be given to concerned companies to prohibit them from providing plastic toys in packets of chips. 

Secretary of the ministry of commerce, and that of the home ministry, chairman and head of marketing of M M Ispahani Limited and Ingreen Limited, were named as respondents to the rule. 

On November 4, Advocate Moniruzzaman filed the writ with the High Court, seeking its directives to prevent distribution of plastic toys in packets of chips.
