Court rejects police plea for journalist Munir's remand

Earlier, on Monday, police arrested Munir,  in a case filed under the Digital Security Act, 2018, for posting provocative status regarding the mob-police clash in Bhola, which happened on Sunday

A Khulna court rejected a plea from police seeking a remand for journalist Munir Uddin Ahmed on Tuesday.

Judge Md. Amirul Islam of Khulna Metropolitan Magistrate passed the order after investigation officer Saidur Rahman produced him before court with a 7 day remand plea.

Defence's lawyer Akhtar Jahan Ruku confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

Munir is the former general secretary of Khulna Press Club, and a district correspondent of the New Nation, an English daily.
