Abrar murder case: 10 accused remanded

As of now, 10 people have been arrested in connection to the murder

A Dhaka court has placed 10 accused of Buet student Abrar Fahad murder case on five-day remand each.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shabbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury passed the order on Tuesday.

Investigation Officer Md Wahidud Zaman of Detective Branch (DB) of Police produced the accused before the court with a 10-day remand for each of the arrestees.

The court has received the first information report (FIR) of the murder case and ordered the police to submit a report on November 13.

Abrar, a second year student of electrical and electronic engineering department of the university, was beaten to death on Monday.

Some Chhatra League leaders have been accused of beating him for his alleged involvement with Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami.  

Meanwhile, Abrar's father Barkatullah filed a murder case against 19 people with Chawkbazar police station on Monday evening.

Later, Bangladesh Chhatra League expelled 11 of its members permanently from the organization for their involvement in Abrar’s murder.

Abrar’s death sparked protest across Bangladesh. The protesters have demanded justice for Abrar and capital punishment for the murderers.

As of now, 10 people have been arrested in connection to the murder.
