A Natore court has sentenced a man to life in connection to a case filed for raping and strangling a fifth grader - also his sister-in-law - to death on July, 2017.
Natore's Woman and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Mainul Haque passed the sentence on Wednesday.
The convict, Sohag Hossain, of North Borgacha area of Natore, was also fined Tk1 lakh by the court.
Natore court Inspector Aminur Rahman confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
Based on case details, Aminur said that while visiting his in-law's place on July 10, 2017, Sohag visited his in-law's home he took out his fifth grader sister-in-law, Moumita, for a walk. At one point he raped and strangled her to death in a jute field near the house.
Sohag's father-in-law, Momin Hossain, filed a case as the plaintiff in this incident.
