An anti-terror special court set May 6 to hold the next hearing of a case, lodged under the anti-terror act over the grisly militant attack on the capital’s Holey Artisan Bakery in 2016.
Judge Md Mujibur Rahman of the Dhaka Anti-terrorism Special Tribunal set the date after examining two prosecution witnesses on Monday, reports BSS.
Latifur Bari and Saiful Islam testified before the court—as prosecution witness number 34 and 35—and were later cross-examined by the defense.
Militants killed 20 innocent people, most of them foreigners, in the attack carried out on July 1, 2016.
Two police officials died trying to save people there. Later, five militants were killed in a commando operation.
Police filed the case under the anti-terror act with the Gulshan police station.
The trial, initiated on November 26, 2018 framed charges against the eight accused: Jahangir Alam, Rakibul Hasan Regan, Rashedul Islam, Sohel Mahfuz, Mizanur Rahman, Hadisur Rahman Sagar, Shariful Islam, and Mamunur Rashid.
