A Bogra court has passed a five-day remand against a Jubo League leader, the prime accused in the murder of BNP leader and transport businessman advocate Mahbub Alam Shahin.
Bogra Senior Judicial Magistrate Billal Hussain passed the order against Aminul Islam, in a case filed by Mahbub’s wife Akhter Jahan Shilpi, on Wednesday.
Investigation Officer and Bogra Upashahar police outpost In-Charge Ambar Hossain said Aminul was arrested from Dhaka’s Bangabandhu National Stadium gate 3 on Tuesday.
Aminul is also the Bogra district Transport Owners’ Association general secretary; Bogra Municipality 2 panel mayor and ward 15 councilor.
On April 14, Mahbub, the Sadar upazila BNP general secretary was hacked to death by miscreants at Nishiranda Upashahar.
On April 16, Shilpi filed a murder case accusing 10 including Aminul as the prime suspect. In the case details she mentioned the leadership of the transport sector as the reason for her husband’s murder and that Aminul led the killing with his associates.
Police, under Section 168, arrested the accused Russell and Payel Sheikh, the following day, who also gave confessional statements about the murder.
