One of the men accused of murdering Feni madrasa student, Nusrat Jahan Rafi confessed to his involvement in the crime before the court, on Thursday.
Hafez Abdul Kader, one of the person named in the charge sheet, gave his confessional statement to Feni District Magistrate, Sharaf Uddin, on Thursday afternoon.
The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) arrested Quader from Mirpur on Wednesday night. He was a teacher at the Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa where Nusrat was a student. He was involved with Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing organization of banned Jamaat Islami party, but was expelled for various offenses, according to a local Shibir leader. However, his father is known to be a dedicated Awami League member in the upazila.
Quader is among 18 persons arrested for their alleged involvement in the murder of Nusrat.
Earlier on Sunday, three other accused also gave their confessional statements to the judicial magistrate, implicating madrasa principal Sirajuddaula.
Nusrat was set on fire on April 6, for refusing to withdraw a case her family filed last month against Sirajuddaula, for sexually harassing and assaulting her.
After Nusrat was set on fire, her family filed another case against eight persons, including Sirajuddaula, on April 8.
The 18-year-old girl died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on April 10.
