On Thursday, a court in Bogra sentenced five men to death, for killing a former army personnel in 2006.
The condemned convicts were identified as, Ismail Hossain, 69, Abdur Rahim, 60, Mamun, 43, Zulfikar Ali Tutul, 35, and Sirajul Islam 55.
They were also fined Tk 20,000 each.
District and Sessions Judge, Naresh Chandra Sarker passed the order in the afternoon.
According to the court case, on June 17, 2006, the convicts stabbed Yasin Ali Mollah for ransom, at Bhadurpur village in Gabtali upazila, leaving him critically injured.
Yasin was rushed to Gabtali upazila health complex where he died later.
Anwara Begum, wife of the deceased, filed a case with the police in this regard, on the same day.
SI Sanowar Hossain of Gabtali police station submitted charge-sheet against 19 people in connection with the murder on September 15, 2006.
