The High Court directed the Election Commission (EC) to register Ganosamhati Anodolon as political party within 30 days.
A bench of Justices Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Md Ashraful Kamal issued the order after hearing a rule seeking explanation as to why Ganosamhati Andolon will not be registered as a political party.
The rule was issued following a writ petition filed by Ganosamhati Andolon convener Zonayed Saki on November 11, last year, reports UNB.
Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua stood for the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General Ekramul Haque Tutul represented the state.
Ganosamhati Andolon applied for registration on December 31, 2017 but Election Commission rejected the application.
On September 23, 2018 a legal notice was served on the EC seeking review of their decision but they failed to respond to the notice.
