No bar on continuing trial proceedings against Moudud

Barrister Moudud Ahmed represented himself at the hearing

The High Court has rejected a petition filed by BNP leader Barrister Moudud Ahmed challenging the trial proceedings of a case against him while seeking a stay on it. 

The High Court bench of Justice Obaidul Hasan and S M Kuddus Zaman passed the order on Monday. 

With this verdict, there remains no legal bar in order to continue trial proceedings against Moudud on charges of amassing wealth beyond his known sources of income and withholding information about his assets.

Barrister Moudud Ahmed represented himself as Barister Abdullah Al Mahmud Masud assisted him. 

Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan represented the Anti-Corruption Commission's (ACC) in the court.

Earlier, on September 16, 2007, the ACC had filed this case against Moudud Ahmed with the Gulshan police station.
