Charges pressed against four alleged razakars

Seven charges have been pressed against four Satkhira men for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971. The charges include killing of six people, torture on 14 others and rape of two women at Satkhira sadar and Ashashuni upazila. The International Crimes Tribunal, which deals with the war crimes cases, will hold a hearing on the charges on April 20 to decide on its acceptance. Of the four accused in the case, Satkhira Jamaat's chief and former lawmaker Abdul Khaleq Mandol, 72, is in jail and Abdullah Hel Baki, 103, is on bail. The other two – Khan Rokonuzzaman, 64, and Jahirul Islam – are on the run. According to the charge sheet, Khaleq Mandol was the organiser of Satkhira unit of razakar bahini and the others were his cohorts in 1971.
