Man gets death penalty for killing wife in Kushtia

A Kushtia court has handed down capital punishment to a man over killing his wife. The convict Shihab Uddin, a fugitive, was also fined Tk1 lakh. Additional District and Session Judge Reza Mohammad Alamgir delivered the verdict on Monday. Shihab Uddin, 25 strangulated his wife Snigdha Akter Rumi to death on February 13, 2013. On the following day, victim’s brother Abdullah Al Mamun filed a murder case accusing Shihab with Kushtia’s Mirpur police station. Police arrested Shihab on March 19, 2014 but later, he came out of prison on bail. Since then, he has been on the run.
