As many as 74 Jatiya Oikya Front candidates have filed election petitions with the High Court seeking its directives to hold re-election after revoking the results of the December 30 polls.

They filed the petitions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

On Saturday, the candidates decided to file district-wise election petitions against irregularities in the national polls citing vote-rigging, vote robbery, casting fake votes and driving agents out of polling stations.

Eight Supreme Court lawyers were assigned to conduct the cases, on Sunday.

Bringing allegations of other anomalies, the petitions said it was not an election at all and demanded revoking of the election results.

Barrister Ruhul Quddus Kazal said the petitions will be placed before the concerned bench of justice for hearing next week.
