The High Court has rejected the writ filed seeking its directives to revoke the oath of the elected members of the 11th parliament.
The bench of Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury and Justice Md Ashraful Kamal passed the order after hearing the petition on Thursday, reports UNB.
Previously, on Wednesday, the High Court set Thursday to deliver its judgment on the writ petition.
Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Taherul Islam Tawhid filed the writ on Monday, seeking its directives to revoke the oath of the lawmakers of the 11th parliament. In the petition, he cited that the MPs were sworn in illegally before the term of the 10th parliament had expired.

As per the writ, Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury administered an oath to the new lawmakers on January 3, following the publication of a gazette; in violation of section 123(3) of the constitution as they were sworn in before the term of the 10th parliament had expired.
The five-year tenure of the 10th parliament was supposed to end on January 28.
The speaker, chief election commissioner, and cabinet secretary were made respondents to the writ which sought the court's directives to issue the gazette after cancelling the oath.
