The High Court has set Wednesday to hear a petition filed challenging the legality of new lawmakers’ oath-taking.
A High Court bench led by Justice Moyeenul Islam Chowdhury set the date on Tuesday.
The lawmakers of the 11th parliament took their oaths on January 3.
Later, advocate Md Taherul Islam Tawhid filed the petition on January 8, challenging its legality as the oath was taken before the 10th parliament was dissolved.
The oath-taking of the persons elected in 11th national polls violated articles 123(3) and 148(3) of the constitution, as the tenure of the 10th parliament is yet to expire.
