The High Court on Sunday granted anticipatory bail to BNP Standing Committee member Mirza Abbas and his wife Afroza Abbas, president of Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, for eight weeks, in three cases filed with Paltan police station.
The High Court bench comprising Justice Rezaul Haque and Justice Zafar Ahmed granted the bail at a hearing in three cases, reports UNB.
Earlier on Wednesday, three cases were filed with Paltan police station on charges of vandalism, arson and obstructing police officers from discharging their duties during the violence in front of BNP headquarters at Naya Paltan in Dhaka.
At least 65 people were shown arrested in three cases.
The cases have been transferred to the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
At least 50 people, including 23 policemen, were injured in a clash between BNP leaders and activists and police men in front of the party's headquarters on the third day of the party's nomination form sale.
