A Meherpur court sentences three for killing an easybike driver two years ago.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Nurul Islam also sentenced two other men to three years imprisonment in the same case on Tuesday.
The death-row convicts are Alamgir Hossain, Mamun Hossain and Wasim Ali. Firoz Hossain and Kablu Islam were given jail terms and fined Tk20,000 each.
Easybike driver Enayet Hossain Khokon was found murdered in Meherpur’s Tengramari on October 28, 2016. His wife later filed a murder case with the sadar police station.
The accused confessed to their crimes before the magistrate.
They said they had rented Khokon’s easybike and went to Tengramari field on the evening of October 27 where they tied the hands and feet of the driver and strangled him to death before hijacking the easybike.
Local farmers found Khokon’s body in the field and contacted the police.
